The B&B Altea 18 is just a few steps from Piazza Gallura, in the heart of the historical center of Tempio.
Tempio is called “The stone city”, it is situated on a plateau of 566 m at the foot of Mount Limbara (1362 m).
In the town there are several places to visit. I will do a list of the most popular ones.
The Cathedral of St. Peter the Apostle, dating 1219 and expanded between 1700 and 1800. In the same square you can see the Medieval Arch. Opposite the Cathedral we have the “Oratorio del Rosario”, from the same period, with its legend that narrates that, in this area, arise the pagan temple dedicated to the twins Castor and Pollux, protectors of the city, and for this reason called in antiquity "Gemmelae".
Another church to visit is San Francesco church, with Renaissance layout, the oldest testimony in Sardinia, in which were buried the nobles of Tempio.
Not too far from Piazza Gallura we notice the medieval style of the "House of Nino di Gallura" (Nino Visconti, judge of Gallura, a friend of Dante and remembered by him in his Divine Comedy).
The “Teatro del Carmine”, dated 1928, is not far from the Memorial Park, and was recently restored. Next to the theater, the “Convent of the Piarists” dating 1665 which now houses the Municipal Library "Dettori". The school of the Piarists had the merit to redeem the illiteracy territory.
Tempio is known, above all, for its clear and diuretic waters. Walking through the " Funtana Noa " (Fontana Nuova), you can enjoy the cool tree-lined avenue and spring water that flows from the rock. Continuing until the end of the avenue, you will run into the woods of San Lorenzo.
After passing the forest you arrive at the Rinagghju Sources. Testimonies, found in some archaeological remains, tell us that diuretic sources were known even in Roman times for their therapeutic properties.
